In our Dinkum Crafting guide, we'll tell you how Crafting works and how you can unlock new items for Crafting such as better tools and new workbenches!

Dinkum Crafting always takes place at some kind of workbench -- there is no option to Craft items in your hand. Generally speaking, you'll only be working with a handful of workbenches:

Additionally, some NPCs will occasionally help out with Dinkum Crafting. Franklyn, for example, will make advanced items for you (such as Power Tools) for a price in Dinks plus the materials to make the item in question.

There are four ways to unlock items in Dinkum:

Here is a list of all of the Dinkum Crafting items you can unlock and how you can unlock them.

These items are unlocked as you progress through the story, mainly by talking to Fletch.

Used for Cooking Meat and Fruit.

Smelts Tin and Copper Ore into their respective Bars.

Allows you to store items.

These items are automatically unlocked when you purchase certain Permits.

Allows you to sell Trapped Animals for Dinks. Your Trap is returned the following day in the mail, along with your pay. 

A sturdier Animal trap made with Iron.

Gives Chooks somewhere to live on your island.

Turns Wheat into Flour and Sugarcane into Sugar.

Used in Cooking to make Drinks.

Used to cut grass and some Farming Crops (such as Sugarcane).

Captures any wild Animal that walks on top of it. Reduce an Animal's health before trapping to prevent it from escaping. 

Makes certain workbenches work faster when placed adjacent to the Windmill.

Allows you to place flowers for decoration.

Unknown function, presumably a better Axe.

Charges Power Tools like the Chainsaw or Metal Detector over time.

Destroys terrain to make it level. The fastest way to flatten land.

Unknown function. Presumably gives prizes when used.

The fastest way to travel short of the Tele-Tower.

Unknown function. Presumably a better Pickaxe.

Allows speedier travel on water.

Allows speedier travel on land.

Automatically spawns barrels or Ore nodes one at a time in the four spaces surrounding it when placed on the ground.

Allows you to expend a Repair Kit to repair all of the Tools in your pockets.

Unknown function. Presumably related to Farming somehow.

Presumably predicts the next day's weather.

Allows you to place flowers for decoration.

These items are randomly unlocked by completing Favors or Tasks for people.

Allows you to place Flowers for decoration.
